Flue Gases

Blue Sky

Only natural gas is used as the fuel source in both of the new Irsching plants. The gas is fed directly into the power plant via an E.ON Ruhrgas transmission line. Here it is allowed to expand in the gas pressure measurement and control plant to the pressure required for the gas turbines.
Natural gas is one of the purest forms of fossil fuel. The flue gases from blocks 4 and 5 contain almost no sulphur compounds, no dust and a comparatively low amount of carbon dioxide. This is why no secondary flue gas purification plant is required for the Irsching plants 4 and 5.
